Armagnac and Floc de Gascogne
In the Bas-Armagnac and Ténarèze cellars, the stills still distil France’s oldest brandy. A domain in Nogaro, Eauze or Condom can be visited as a living lesson in history and patience. Floc de Gascogne, a blend of grape must and Armagnac, offers a local aperitif ideal for a first date. You clink, you sniff, you take your time.
The fat market of Samatan
Every Monday morning in Samatan, the marché au gras is a real spectacle: stalls of raw livers, fat ducks, magrets, confits and producers attached to their traditions. You arrive early, you leave with bags, before heading to the local restaurants. Nogaro offers a famous motor-racing circuit, and Lectoure celebrates its melon every summer across the department.
Jazz in Marciac and tasty villages
Every summer, for three weeks, Marciac becomes the world capital of jazz with its festival Jazz in Marciac, founded in 1978. In the evening, the big stages alternate with intimate clubs and free concerts around the bastide. On Lyad, Gers members share their favourite cellars, tables and stages: it is up to you to find someone to raise a glass with at the next concert under the stars.
